It probably had to do with legal issues or the desire to NOT pick a favorite. However I don't work for microsoft and IANAL, so take my explanation with a grain of salt. I did say probably, didn't I? ;)

Also, it may have been created to help illustrate the flexibility of the mvc fx. I expect there will be online tutorials covering [insert your favorite IOC implementation here] aplenty. Just say'n.

I am talking about Unity.We already have at least 3 very stable and very good ioc implementations. That is Castle Windsor (my favourite), spring and structure map.Why have they bothered? They will just be playing catch up on the others.

Don't even start me on the entity framework compared to Nhibernate etc.
