Subject: [sw-porters-discuss] SourceJuicer: How to contribute a package
to OpenSolaris

I've just published a fairly detailed blog entry describing how to
contribute
an OpenSolaris package using SourceJuicer. It is written for people like
myself who have not created packages before.
The entry is here:
http://blogs.sun.com/simons/entry/how_to_contribute_a_package
If there are errors, let me know and I will make corrections.
One immediate issue: I was told the proper procedure to have a
package promoted from pending to contrib was to send email to
this alias and this information is included in my blog entry. However,
I just learned that I needed to subscribe to this mailing list before I
could post a message. That does not seem reasonable for people
who would merely like to contribute an OpenSolaris package and
move on. What is the official mechanism for asking for package
promotion? I'd like to update the blog entry to correctly explain
this final step.
