That's not quite right. The most common next-generation DRM will be BluRay and HD DVD with AACS, and there are already set-top devices to play those formats; I'm sure OS X will play them too. It's true that Microsoft really didn't pressure the media companies, but I don't think they'll be getting a massive lock-in benefit.
