When I am using the mutate_count_fudgetput in Google Ads v19,
I have received a response:
Request made: ClientCustomerId: xxx, Host: googleads.googleapis.com,
Method:
/google.ads.googleads.v19.services.AccountBudgetProposalService/MutateAccountBudgetProposal,
RequestId: None, IsFault: True, FaultMessage: 502:Bad Gateway
[2025-08-20 05:38:21 - WARNING] [RETRY] Attempt 1 due to exception: 503
502:Bad Gateway
Due to my retry mechanism, when I make another request, it prompts:
debug_error_string = "UNKNOWN:Error received from peer
ipv4:142.251.167.95:443 {grpc_status:3, grpc_message:"Request contains an
invalid argument."}"
>, errors {
error_code {
account_budget_proposal_error: PENDING_UPDATE_PROPOSAL_EXISTS
}
message: "Cannot update a budget when a pending update already exists."
location {
field_path_elements {
field_name: "operation"
}
}
}
request_id: "FAy9jdfUg6_ZViGkHB8rwA"
, 'FAy9jdfUg6_ZViGkHB8rwA')
I know this is the result of frequent budget updates, but what I don't
understand is:
Why did I receive a 5xx error on my first request, only to find out after
trying again that the first request had already been received and
successfully processed by Google.
So the second retry request will return a failure. As a result, it affected
my business and was deemed a failed operation, with the amount refunded in
its original form.
This issue has a significant impact on our system P0.
Is this situation normal?
