Hi,

Could someone please explain why it's not possible to get the name of
an account from the API? When trying to pull a list of accounts from
an agency MCC, it's almost impossible to differentiate between them
unless you log into the web portal and note down the numeric customer
ID.

The "descriptive name" is that of the company, not the account, and
it's not always set. So at best you get the same name for several
accounts, and at worst you get nothing at all. This affects both the
V13 AccountService and the v201101 ServicedAccountService.

Even the email address shown in the API is the one that's associated
with the account's contact address, and not the primary login email
address of the account, so that's no use to differentiate them
either. In many cases we see multiple accounts with the same contact
email address, as it's set up to go to a billing department.

I can only assume these are available somewhere, since the AdWords
Editor application lets you select from a list containing an Account
Name, Company Name, Primary Login and Customer ID when given just a
username and password. Could you please expose that functionality to
the rest of us?
