Have you tried defining the array on a separate line and passing it in?
Try this:
$keyword='Adidas'
$keywords=array($keyword);
then in the constructor : new Predicate('KeywordText', 'CONTAINS',
$keywords);
I mostly use the Java client library, but this should work.
