Hi Herb, Yes, you can update ad extensions through the API. If you're interested in updating upgraded ad extensions, then you'll need the Feed Services<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/feed-services>. If you're looking to update legacy ad extensions, then you'll need the CampaignAdExtensionService<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201306/CampaignAdExtensionService> .
