I wasn't aware of the other general forum.  I will double check there.  But 
despite your initial suggestion that it wouldn't work, your second sentence 
makes it sound like the system will remove people for whom the rule no 
longer applies.  I am creating custom rules and setting the user properties 
manually--so if i want to remove someone from a list i will alter the value 
of their property associated with the appropriate rule for that list, and 
expect that they will be removed.

Thanks for your help again. I'll double check in the other forum.
