Hello, I've heard back from engineering. They are aware of issues with handling uploads as large as the ones you're attempting. They are actively working on improving reliability, because cases like this should be fully supported.
The best practice here for now is to reduce the size of each batch job. However, this should be a temporary measure as we're working to improve our infrastructure.
