In both cases, I have a similar problem:

Downloading reports for 1 managed customers. Report attempt #1 for client 
> customer ID 9102394456 was not downloaded due to: Report download failed. 
> Underlying errors are Type = '', Trigger = '', FieldPath = ''. Report 
> request failed for client customer ID 9102394456. All downloads completed. 
> Results: Successful reports: Failed reports: Client ID 9102394456 => 
> '/tmp/adgroup_2p1gza.csv' End of results. 


OR 

An error has occurred:162 Report download failed. Underlying errors are 
> Type = '', Trigger = '', FieldPath = ''. 


I'm adding to example code line: 
  $options['includeZeroImpressions'] = true;
