For the gender field (Male/Female), you can add the Criteria <https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/reports/gender-performance-report#criteria> attribute in the report. Additionally, you can check here <https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/samples/ruby/reporting> for more reporting examples in Ruby.
