Hi Anthony,

The managed_placement_view reports targeted placements (managed placements), 
whereas the group_placement_view returns automatic placements. There is no 
corresponding UI view for detail_placement_view, it's only meant to parallel 
the old deprecated UI and the deprecated URL Performance Report.

Deprecating Url Performance Report and Automatic Placements Performance Report 
in the AdWords API from our blog states that for Url Performance Report, use 
detail_placement_view in Google Ads API and for Automatic Placements 
Performance Report, use group_placement_view in Google Ads API.

Note that  there's a difference between the URL Performance Report and the 
detail_placement_view because Url Performance Report is a single attribution 
report. This means that one criterion is picked to be given credit for the 
click or view. In some cases, one URL may not be given credit because another 
criterion elsewhere was given all the credit.

The whole Google Ads API does not use single attribution because we found it 
can be confusing, so each view will show every single criterion that was in 
play at the time, which gives more of an all encompassing picture of what was 
being used while serving.

I brought to my team your request for clear documentation on these views and 
their correspondence to UI views. You may monitor our blog for an update.
