To answer your concern on the old assets in general, these should remain as is. However, when you manage them via the Google Ads API, you may note that the dimensions should conform to the new standard moving forward. For the scenario when creating new assets via the Google Ads API and if you are looking for a field where you can set the square logo or 1:1 dimension logo, then you will need to upload it in the square_logo_images[] field of the ResponsiveDisplayAdInfo.
