Every day on my Google home page I get a work as ''Art of the Day'. Mostly
they are quite good. Sometimes I even download them into my screensaver
(there were some good Rembrandt etchings recently) . But today's offering
is remarkable for its awfulness. A James Tissot - of whom I have never
heard - but who is, I would say, straight out the academic stables that bred
the likes of Cabanel, Bougeureau, Bonnat, Detaille, Couture etc. etc

The work is at

if you can bear it.

It reminds me of the illustrations in my Sunday School readers when I was a
child. It might even have been one of them. His other works, which are
linked, belong to the same genre: non art, anti-art.
