I had written: "what an architectural construct should or could be has
exploded in every direction and is accelerating at a quickening pace - like
our
 universe"

This situation can be both good, bad or neutral depending on the
constructed environment that is "becoming" as each architectural construct
affects
and informs the next. We are foolish if we believe that the built tradition
(historical architectural constructs) are of little use to us now and even
less so in the future. We should remain sensitive to what has gone on
before and what is going on now.

The following exceptional project illustrate a blending of modernity and
tradition, and thankfully, has recently begun construction - Louvre Abu
Dhabi. Make sure you click on the thumbnail images to enlarge.

"Designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, the Louvre Abu Dhabi will be a
24,000 sq m complex of pavilions, plazas, alleyways and canals 'evoking the
image of a city floating on the sea'. Hovering over the complex will be a
form inspired by traditional Arabic architecture: a vast, shallow,
perforated domebsome 180 metres in diameter."
