It's counterproductive and wrongheaded to cry "Hubris!" when someone
detects in the likes of Berger an intellectual weakness and a potential to
waste
our time. I'm sure in your day you've quit books early on for those very
reasons.   I certainly don't feel pride when I detect and point out a faulty
polemic posture -- as I'm doing in this very posting.   There is something to
the old quote that goes, "It's only arrogance when you're wrong."
