few and admired by many, then it became competitive, and then everyone
started doing it again but without enough reflection on why we were doing it
in the first place. Just a tentative thesis which Esther played with.
Because so many are producing art these days there is a phemomenon of people
having to, or feeling they are obliged to, storm forwards like individuals
on the first day of the sales. Just as there is little beauty in the
products on offer in the sales, so the commodification of art has stripped
some of it of its glory.
