It seems like a lot of the Linkedin connection requests I get are just
preludes to some kind of sales pitch. Maybe that's the idea behind
Linkedin.

that's how the russian trolls are able to spread their FUD. they
friend request your friends and your friends see you are friends so
they must be ok friends and on and on. then you start seeing "news
articles" in your feed from these new "friends of friends" so you
blindly trust that they are friendly. all the while it's a bunch of
bots and russian trolls taking advantage of our goods nature.

Anybody on this list, if you made a friend request and I did not
confirm, just drop me a real email and warn me before you do it
and I will confirm. I don’t want anyone to think I am aloof or
unfriendly but far more people know me than I instantly recognize
on a FB request.
