I've seen the garbled console output when the baud rate doesn't match between 
clients, I'm not sure of the default setting of the RB4011 though. 

I am also using the non-wifi version at my house. Very happy with it. It's a 
workhorse. Another thing I would try is swapping the power supply, if you have 
a spare one available.

Yeah indoors, top shelf, I'm sure the stale air up there gets a bit
