If this is a unifi switch, you must use the controller. If it is an edgeswitch, 
you should be able to access.

It finally showed up in the arp –a
But it says “refused connection” when I try to browse to it.

That is probably the DHCP fallback IP, it may have pulled an address from your 
DHCP server.

Replaced my flaky Nortel with a UBNT poe.  Things are finally running clean.
However, I can’t figure out how to get into the switch to config the POE.

It say on the quick start guide that it has a default of 192.168.1.2 but 
nothing comes up on that address (yes, I did give my PC an address in that 
range) and arp –a does not show the mac of the switch itself.
