OK, not being a member of the Apple cult, I was unaware of Apple News. Apparently what you have is Apple News+.

It also allows family members to share your subscription. So it may be worth $9.99/month. Assuming your family still reads, rather than consuming everything as video streams, Instagrams and Tik-Toks.
