I hear you. Can't help your older relative, but when I encounter a web
site that pulls that kind of crap, I copy the URL and bring it up in a
Brave browser. It is not perfect, but does just about the best job of
any browser in cutting out the cruff. and this is without any add-ins or
extensions.

It seems like I've noticed an uptick recently of slow loading dynamic
content. Like the web page will load, then like a second later,
everything rearranges on the page as more items decide to pop up. I
don't remember it being this bad before. I've had to use the FedEx
site recently, it's really bad about this.
The Youtube app on my phone now had Ad's that are bigger than half the
screen, so it will push a playing video 1/2 off the top of the screen
so it can show the entire ad below it while the video is playing.
I've been trying to explain over the phone to an older relative how to
use an Amazon FireTV box I've given her so she can watch her church
services. She has never used a computer, and barely used a VCR. She
does not inherently know what Icons on the remote mean (play/pause,
etc). Her fingers to not operate independent of her Eyes, so she has
to look at her fingers as they are doing something (why she's never
been able to figure out how to use a mouse, gets cursor lined up,
looks at hand to push mouse button, cursor moves, click does
nothing). She watches TV by typing in the channel number. So the
instructions need to be like 'Push the button with a house, then Push
the bottom of the big circle down 2 times, then push the middle of the
big circle' But this never works, as Amazon/youtube will always
re-order the icons, and Since she's not looking at the screen, she
doesn't see the 'selected' icon is changing as she is pushing
buttons. (any tips on helpful explanations for this would be
appreciated)
My FireTV at home has also been pulling re-arranging the Icons after
it's started up. Just the amount of time for you to select the app
you want, and as you're clicking, they all re-arrange and you've
opened the wrong thing.
I think bottom line is I'm starting to get to old for all these
new-fangled Technogizmos. I can't imagine it getting better, only
worse from here on, as every content developer under the sun want's to
have their own interface for their content.
