Hockey helmets were also controversial.  I remember Stan Mikita was one of the 
first players to wear one full time.

 

Seat belts and bicycle helmets were also controversial, motorcycle helmets 
still seem to be.  All those things though are for your own protection.  In 
this case, it’s to protect innocent bystanders from asymptomatic super 
spreaders, our equivalent to Typhoid Mary.

Introverts love masks.

 

No need to smile, no need to react to what people are saying because they can't 
see your expression anyway. For the people tired of dealing with the public, 
the ability to mouth things without repercussions is a nice topping.
