When my oldest turned 16, she got a debit card that we deposited $200 into each
week. She took the family van, did all the running around, bought all the
food, bought gas, paid the phone bill etc etc. She had complete control over
the family spending. And she got to spend any extra and she had at the end of
the week. The first week when we were eating out of food storage and all the
other kids complained, I pointed to her and told them to ask her to share some
of her makeup and music to eat. Never happened again. As each of the kids
turned 16, this transferred to them. They all learned firsthand how to handle
home economics up close and personal.

My wife came from a home with allowance. There were many fights over the last
18 years ove paying kids to do what theyre supposed to do anyway. Though last
night I did pay my older daughter 10 bucks to give the two littles a bath

So that is what having kids are for? Indentured servitude?

Enough that a guy can get started and build upward. I just am afraid of heights
and want to get lower and build something with my kid.
