I've been out of the wireless game for awhile now, but I see lead time issues too.
Rehlko commercial generators - 9 months Vertiv rectifiers - 3 months Front terminal telecom batteries Various other parts have lead times from weeks to months. Just some things, not everything. I was told by a distributor that the Rehlko issue is tariff related, but with no further details. I imagine there was fluctuating demand for some important generator widget caused by changing tariffs. Some of the other items are more likely due to high demand caused by FTTH investment. I'm only speaking about a general trend, of course. I have no idea what's up with Cambium. Yes they moved production from Flextronics in Mexico to a contract assembler in Thailand, but that was like 14 months ago. Lead time still seems to be around 6 months. Yet they won’t declare it EOS, do they have contractual agreements that force them to keep making it but they don’t really want to? It would actually make more sense to me if they just said we lost the recipe, sorry guys, we can’t make it any more. Or a critical part is unavailable. It feels like when a company can’t fire you so they make you want to quit. I don’t hear people bitching about this, is everyone under an NDA, or does that just mean nobody cares because nobody wants to buy them anyway? Either because the WISP market has tanked, or they’ve moved to something different like ePMP/Tarana/Ubiquiti/LTE, or they are recovering used radios from customers who switch to fiber/Starlink/5G and using those for new installs? Will Matt or Morgan actually stand up at ISPAMERICA in a couple weeks and give the pitch for their supposed next gen unified EVO platform? Hard to take that seriously at this point.
