Most telcos no longer have copper pots. I wonder what the alarm and elevator companies are doing as pots is gone from almost everywhere.

Theirs runs close to a good quality landline with no jitter on their internal network. So it can handle data from alarms. Regular voip going over the internet is good enough for voice but not usually good enough for data. Our policy for phone lines is we only support voice. We don't support anything that requires data or life safety applications like fax, alarms, elevators, fire alarms, etc. There are efax solutions for old school fax machines but it's not a normal voip line.
