I wasn’t asking you to give details of this situation. Based on the links here and what we’ve seen (and I realize there was probably more going on behind the scenes) I would probably have done the same thing you did. We’ve had some jerk customers over the years who’ve had the gall to tell us that we had to do what they wanted because “don’t you know the customer is always right?”. I’ve actually told them that no, the customer is actually usually poorly informed and ignorant and in many cases clearly not right. Based on what I’ve seen here, John crossed the line. I was mostly curious about the wording of the Terms of Use and wondered if you’d had it reviewed by a lawyer or if there was other wording in there that I had missed.
No big deal though. John – I think we all have gotten what you’re trying to say. I’d suggest dropping it and if you need an alternative product maybe talk to Cameron at WispMon. While I don’t want to get into what exactly happened as it don’t really matter. We provide a service with no contract. We try to offer the best service possible for a super inexpensive price. If you don’t like the service, then we don’t force you to use it, you can cancel your service at any time. I just recommend that you try it out, our Facebook page usually has a free 30 day code on it, if not Jim can get you one I’m sure. That way you can even try it out for a month, free of charge. I’m not trying to criticize Jim and Dennis for their part of this. I’m just wondering if they actually had it covered in there about posting negative stuff on other sites. I’ll admit I basically scanned their Terms on the site but I stopped and read the part about reviews and posts and it seemed to me that it could be interpreted to mean that you couldn’t post negative stuff on their site. I can see where it could be interpreted to mean you can’t post them anywhere but my understanding is that usually if it was contested legally, a situation like that would be interpreted in the favor of the user (basically the person who didn’t write the contract). Personally, I applaud the fact that he "fired" someone that insulted him and his coworkers. Whether it's in the TOS or not, thank you Dennis for standing up to that behaviour. I may never use your service (Cartography and GIS is a minor hobby of mine) so I can't comment how good or bad it is, but I know the difference between a bad review and someone who is just being rude. Obviously no professionalism on his part in that review I have zero respect for that. It's bad enough when we in this industry have to hear it from customers and take it, but effectively doing it to each other is an absolute low. -Steve D On Wed, Jan 21, 2015 at 8:58 AM, James Howard <ja...@litewire.net<mailto:ja...@litewire.net>> wrote: Dennis, I’m not trying to defend the poster or anything but could you point out where in your Terms that it prohibits what he did? IANAL of course so maybe it’s implied, but what I read there seems to only apply to actions on your site. James Howard LiteWire Internet Services, Inc. What I love about this, is a person posted to this forum several hours PRIOR to sending in a support e-mail asking or telling us his account had an issue. If he would have sent the email quickly, I’m sure the issue would have been fixed much quicker. Typical end user issue, let’s not go through the normal support channels to get help. Going around support channels is quicker right! Guess you can’t win them all.
