The awesomeness has to do with side-lobe suppression and making it easier to co-locate or simply get a channel in a congested area. Other things like warranty, material build quality, mount design, etc. are all a factor as well. Other things like how often are things simply missing in the box (quality control). Stamped parabola vs. machined.
Shipping cost is also a factor. What about having all antennas for what you’re looking at (Jirous, as mentioned, won’t have 6ft thru 15ft)? You can’t reasonably ship antennas over 4ft internationally. I’ve personally visited 5 licensed antenna manufacturing assembly plants. There are a lot of differences between vendors. I have no experience with Jirous so I have no clue how it stacks up. Hrm, I didn't have any concerns on the Jirous dishes other than needing to be a grand master puzzle solver to assemble them. Are you saying Jirous is supplying HP 11 GHz antennas? If that’s correct, I hope the build quality is a giant step up from the 5 GHz antennas I’ve bought from them, they are OK especially for the price, but I would demand a lot more for a licensed band antenna. I know Jirous has a deep parabolic 3.5 GHz antenna at a higher price point, so maybe for more money they can build them better. A gentleman never tells.... The radios? $2k/radio with antennas between $400 and $1k, depending on size. There will be Jirous 2', 3' and 4' options. Brink will be the importer and they'll be available through Streakwave and DoubleRadius. I'm not sure if they'll be available through Brink Networks directly. ----- Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions http://www.ics-il.com _____ From: "Jon Langeler" <jon-ispli...@michwave.net <mailto:jon-ispli...@michwave.net> > To: af@afmug.com <mailto:af@afmug.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 14, 2015 5:25:32 PM Subject: Re: [AFMUG] Fiber up the tower with edgepoint thanks Ben Estimated pricing?
