I assume you've seen the movie Windtalkers?
Pretty awesome that we had broken the Japanese and German codes. Imagine
how much longer the war would've been and how different the world would
be today if we hadn't. My dad's dad was getting ready to deploy with the
army near the end. Then it was suddenly over. He was top of his class
marksman too, so no doubt he would've been near the front.

The code talkers all knew each other and in most cases came from the
same tribe/area area. Drove the Japanese crazy. All day long they
were visiting in Navajo about the cousins back home and then
seamlessly insert a code phrase. For words that were not Navajo they
use a phonetic alphabet but used Navajo words, so B would be the
Navajo word for Bear etc. Then back to speculating if cousin Jimmy is
still drinking.
I wonder if they even figured out what language it was in.

Pretty easy to use code phrases or code on a clear channel. One

Tough nut to crack.
How about you can send encrypted all you want, provided the
sender and receiver identities are in the clear.
How much would that offend our libertarian sensibilities?
