We use APC PTS's for that.. they work quite well (power transfer switch) ..

I like it that way so I can change things around with the UPS and AC power without interruption. Plus sometimes UPS modules fail. Is there a Y dongle or power strip or something that I can take from two AC sources into one plug and fail between the sources?
