While we are OT...has anyone seen any value to using a drone for tower inspections?

Yes you most definitely can do that...I know cuz I crashed mine once by connecting my phone via wifi to the GoPro. Not sure if the fcc & faa would be happy with you doing it, but technically yes you can interfere enough to cause a crash.

I wonder if I could so a little developer mode on our old alvarion
fhss with some amps and big sectors to create some drone no fly
zones, nothing would feel better than watching these fuckers drop

I believe it's 2.4 FHSS on the Phantom 3 that we have.

I don't know how wide a channel the phantom uses but I'll
fire it up with a spectrum analyzer when I get a chance.

How wide are the channels? How many in 2.4GHz band?

They use the 2.4 and 5.8 bands but they don't usually
use the wifi protocol. (Some might but my Phantom
                and others I've used don't)

Do drones use standard WiFi on 2.4 and 5GHz? Do
                    any use 900MHz?
