I have been sued for not paying a contractor. I was over billed and less
work performed than promised.  I have more money than he does.  Does that
mean that I deserve to be screwed? I think not.
I am not saying who was right in the case you mentioned; just that not
paying a contractor and getting sued doesn't mean your wrong.
