Doing the same thing here using ARDEN.NET firmware. Nice thing is that with
that firmware the radios can be moved to the amateur radio licensed spectrum
away from unlicensed spectrum that the WISP’s use thus avoiding interference.

Ah, too bad. Our amateur radio Wi-Fi group has been doing well, built out a few
sites with donated Ubnt/MT gear, we are looking for a bit more - especially
5ghz radios - that can be gotten for just cost of shipping.

It’s gone but it was Powerstations, nanostations, etc.. . All the stuff we
upgraded from N radios. Still have a few of the Picostations left I think. The
really sad throwing out session was the one was $150,000 worth of SkyPilot
equipment

Rory, what type of gear are you throwing out?

I just threw out enough to do a few blocks.

Interesting video. I've often wondered if we should donate some of our older
gear to a project like this.

This story looks familiar! I've seen and heard this story a dozen times from
people at Wispapalooza but in rural settings. This happening inside a city. I
know there are people in Chicago and other cities as well doing this, however
this is a nice documentary.
