Whenever I've seen similar situations, it's always Ethernet problems, bad cable/connector. Or a bad router. Rarely it's a bad SM. Are the Ethernet stats incrementing errors?

This just showed up today, as the customer router stopped getting an IP address (the router sees the request for IP, offers it, but it never binds).
