Batavia is coming next week to inspect and quote the repairs. Resurfacing
is cheap, that's probably worth doing semiannual anyway if they sit atop a
truck in the sun.
They also repair ladder racks and he happens to be in my area doing rack
maintenance for a bigger company so he will have the parts on hand, I
didn't realize when I took over one of the standoffs was gone.
Fwiw it's free for them to come out. I'm pretty sure this is the outfit
that does our fire departments ladder inspections and testing

We have a company (Batavia Services Inc. http://www.laddermatters.com) that
comes by the shop once or twice a year (I think it’s every 6 months) and
inspects/repairs all of the ladders.

The ladder inspection / maintenance includes replacing any damaged or
broken parts, cleaning and waxing (keeps the fiberglas from deteriorating
and sticking fiberglas in your hands), and a written report saying they are
in good condition. They can fix some fiberglas issues, though some are
just too far gone.

If they can’t be fixed (and there are a number of issues they can’t fix)
they let us know that the ladders need to be discarded. On occasion they
have been able to shorten the ladder by cutting off a damaged section and
reinstalling the end caps.

The ladder safety class that I took said that any damaged ladders should be
cut up into pieces before throwing them in the garbage. That way, nobody
gets them out and attempts to repair them.
