Dear African Wikimedians, On behalf of Wikimedia Usergroup Kenya <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Community_User_Group_Kenya>, I am happy to announce to you that Kenya has submitted a bid to host Wikimania 2025 <https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania:Expressions_of_Interest/2025/Nairobi,_Kenya>
As most of you might be aware, as Wikimania resumes to in person conference; the hosting will be done regionally. Consequently, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda were the only African countries that showed interest in hosting Wikimania before 2027. Following joint conversations and seeing that Wikimania 2024 will be hosted in Poland (Europe), Rwanda and Tanzania opted to support Kenya’s bid to host Wikimania in 2025. This is our chance as African Wikimedians to host Wikimania, which has only been hosted once before in Africa; Cape Town, South Africa in 2018 we are calling upon you to help make this a reality by endorsing our bid here <https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania:Expressions_of_Interest/2025/Nairobi,_Kenya> .
