WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 10 2008 The College of Education, Azare, Bauchi state, has commenced the training of 22 Germans in Hausa language. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Germans, drawn from various universities, will undergo three months of intensive study. The trainees will also be exposed to critical Hausa tradition and cultural practices, as part of the training programme. Receiving the students in Bauchi Monday, the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Garba Gadi, said the programme would enhance bilateral relations between the state and some european countries, including Germany. He said the programme would also facilitate investment and economic development of the state. Fifty students from the state, he added, were also undergoing studies in various disciplines in Europe. Gadi commended the coordinator of the programme, Prof. Andrew Haruna, for his commitment to the initiative. Earlier, Haruna said the programme started 10 years ago, after he served the German government for 15 years. He said the programme was first introduced to the Republic of Niger, before it was shifted to Kano, and then Bauchi state. Haruna appealed to the state government to support the programme, saying it would serve as an avenue for wooing foreign investors. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the programme, which will last for two years, is being jointly sponsored by the German government and the students.College trains 22 Germans in Hausa language The College of Education, Azare, Bauchi state, has commenced the training of 22 Germans in Hausa language.
