The hardware, software, and the knowledge data the brain uses all have patterns. They use an alphabet to compute/talk/move.
Patterns in data allow you to discover similar components, and then do entailment. Language is made of a few elementary letters, and has patterns that allow you to re-use higher level parts like 'tha' and 'thank you'.
