Bleh, I have ~$15k earmarked for AI work. Trouble is, the ante is between 3-5 million for even a pretty bare bones operation.
Because getting really good VR is very difficult, I thought it would be easier going the robotics route. I wanted a NAO, not sure if they still exist. The real problem is that I can't get advanced APIs such as Vulkan working on my machine here. I mean my linux machine will RUN vulkan apps fine but it always errors out when I try to install the development libraries. Not to say that I know what I'm doing. it's still a very young API and it's not exactly clear what tools you really need. The grunt work in vulkan is actually done in OpenCL which is compiled to SPIR. Vulkan is a framework for running the shader programs... basically I need to get to a position where all the basic stuff is working, embodyment, high performance compute, frameworks, etc...
