As far as you are from the prize-winning level, you are light-years beyond the vast majority of the ML field by simply recognizing the importance of lossless compression. Congratulations on your focus. You're acquiring boots-on-the-ground knowledge of what might be called "The Hard Problem of AGI" while the rest of the ML field is running around with its hair on fire.
