If you have to imagine your system by coding it, then it's not designed to completion. Clearly we mean different things by systems design. In my view, an excellent design is completed when all the architectural layers have been specified, normalised, integrated, optimized, and logically tested functionality, and in a language which is easily computable as a pure object. Only at a point where the design satisfies all the features and objectives - in the least - would it be possible for modular coding of the core to commence.
My view is that in the case of AGI, the design would have to be deabstracted to algorithmic level. All theoretical anomalies and constraints would have to be resolved. Thereafter, the adaptive (fully recursive) capabilities would have to be thematically integrated (the stuff Ben is currently probably talking about.) And then there's the AGI platform (the stuff Ben and them probably have sorted out already).
