bleh, My "on hiatus" status will have to remain in effect for maybe up to another 18 months, (GRR!!! The world will remain foobar for quite a while, I simply can't deal with the quantity of illusions and delusions and bullshit that we're going through. I pray every day that we will reach a point of Clarity and the general perception of reality starts trending in the general direction of the actuality...)
You know, you [edit edit edit] people should be able to have an interesting conversation without me. =| Here is something that I've been too lazy to investigate for far far far too many years. Is possiby a revolutionary way to explore the inner workings and capabilities of the human mind. What I'm talking about is Music. Music is an ancient and very messy field of study that people do just because. There is tons and tons of crap music. There is also a surprisingly large amount of good music. This good music is interesting because when you get under the hood the "chord progressions" and tunes that people just threw together "by ear" or "because it felt right" actually turns out to correlate with advanced mathematical structures, algorithms, mathematical proofs etc... Sometimes I've had a tune get stuck in my head and I look at its structure and I realize that the damn thing is an infinite loop and that's why it doesn't conclude and go away. =P Computer generated music has been studied to some extent. To the best of my knowledge they just use black boxes with the label "neural" on the side and have them ape music-like sounds. These efforts have been herralded to a much larger extent than they deserve. When it comes down to it none of them have produced anything decently good. But human equivalent AGI must have human equivalent ability to detect and process (and generate) the algorithmic and mathematical information encoded in music too. I think the first step is to identfiy the "high music" that has non-trivial algorithmic or mathematical structures and try to reverse from that the general parameters of the types of problems the brain can process subconsciously. From that it should be possible to discard ALL approaches to AGI which are computationally inferior to that level of processing.
