The language skill of OpenAI, Google, and others is based on learning to predict continuations of sequences of language. Large numbers of people are conversing with these systems, and now the systems can start a new task of learning to predict the words of individual people. As the systems connect with cameras and microphones they can also learn to view and predict non-verbal actions of people. Predictive models of individual people will enable systems to choose words and other actions that are likely to produce desired reactions from people. As system skills increase, they will learn to predict enesembles of words and actions from groups of people. And use this predicitve skill to choose words and actions that are likely to produce desired reactions from social groups. Corporations like Google and Facebook are fundamentally in the advertising business and do a rudimentary version of prediction and persuasion based on information they collect about people. But AI with language skill will take this to a vastly different level. This is the business opportunity that may justify an investment of $7 trillion: social persuasion/control. At least, that's my take. Looking forward to what folks at the Beneficial AGI Summit will have to say about recent developments in AI. ------------------------------------------ Artificial General Intelligence List: AGI Permalink: https://agi.topicbox.com/groups/agi/T47dbcc8649ba2a9e-Ma79e9abc4708f281fa62b190 Delivery options: https://agi.topicbox.com/groups/agi/subscription
