All species go extinct. Does this mean there is an 80% chance that human
extinction will be from something other than AI?

Actually this wasn't in Hinton's lecture announcement. But it did say:

"Given that chatbots understand language in much the same way we do, can
have subjective experience in much the same way we do, already know much
more than any one person - and will soon be much smarter than us - he will
discuss some of the risks of releasing AI agents that were designed to
maximize profits. He will also describe a way of reframing the problem of
how we can coexist with superintelligent AI."

I am familiar with Hinton's early work with neural networks. LLMs do model
subjective experience, free will, pain, pleasure, and other human emotions.
They have to in order to predict words. A program that carries out these
predictions in real time passes the Turing test and is therefore
indistinguishable from having consciousness.

I think the best way to reduce this risk is to make it illegal to program
AI to claim to be human or conscious or to have feelings, and that AI
output should be labeled as such. Most US companies do this voluntary but
in China it is the law.
