I just received an announcement that the Joint Fall 2012 Meeting of the Texas Section of the American Physical Society will be hosted by the Department of Physics at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX on October 25-27, 2012. The meeting features invited speakers Michael Deem on the physics of the immune system, Michael Marder on the physics of failure, among others. The meeting website is http://www.phys.ttu.edu/TSF12/index.html.
I posted the announcement because some blog participants such as Steve Richfield and Giovanni Santostasi, and perhaps others I don't know about, may be interested in the immune system. I will try to attend myself but can't confirm at this time.
