I'm guessing those 5 (or 11) were the most interested in the particular conversation, so they/we had the most to say. More interesting conversations tend to spur lots of back-and-forth communication, as is only natural. Fortunately, if you have decent email software, you can group conversations by subject and ignore the ones that aren't of interest to yourself -- no need to cut yourself or anyone else off from the internet as a whole.
