cute comic.

I think the gyst of the comic is that AGI fears are unfounded.
A lot of people idolize computers and software,
not realizing how fragile it all is.

domestic dogs, cats, rabbits, all live longer than computers.
half life of flash drive 4 years, cpu 7 years, disk drive 6 years,
cd-rom ~20-30 years in best of conditions.

In reality an AGI would need spare parts like we need protein,
lubricants, sealants, for heat-flow and waterproofing like we need
nutrients, and electricity like we need carbohydrates.

I've read lots of sci-fi authors write about them like they will be
immortal or something, living hundreds of years in desolate places.
In truth any such AGI would need a whole technological eco-system just
to stay up and functioning.

Sure there are benefits, like sensors and backups,
but I think a lot of promoters skip the difficulties,
which is what makes AGI more relateable, more human.

fried/dysfunctional memory, chips, sensors, actuators, programs,
can all be expected for an AGI that lives more than a handful of
years.

The whole nano-fog stuff is really overblown, makes AGI look scary,
anything we create will be limited by the same energy and materials,
which biology has available to it. Much like biology, nanotechnology
requires a liquid medium of certain composition to function.
At most it can be a clever virus, target cancer cells or w/e.
Spores are airborne, but they are inert until they have a medium.
Even then can't be much worse than ebola/tuberculosis,
both of which have been evolving for at least millions of years.
