Hmm interesting
In the old dos days I used to have a program called syscap.
This was either a device driver or standalone thing.
It functioned like a bootlog and could capture stuff and save it to text.
It was a screen capture thingy custom made for my system.
Not sure but you are probably looking for some screen captore program
that does not capture as an image.
I suppose you could ocr the image once you had it but hmm not sure.

Hi Shaun and list, thanks so much for the info
and will check it out! <smile>
I have a few questions that I'm hoping some here might be able to
help with. I'm trying to get a full list of all console commands
and cvars that I can save in a text file. I do a cmdlist and a
cvarlist from the console and get the right lists, but I can't seem
to copy / paste from the Zquake launch window and I'm not aware of
a command to save the text chat. I've recorded a demo of the game
where I've input the list commands and let audio quake read the
results, but it doesn't seem to want to come out on the demo. Have
no idea why. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. <smile> thanks so much!
Secondly, Matthew / Sebby, can either of you tell me where
exactly the game code hooks into the +speed / -speed commands? -or
is there a cvar which has that info that I can check? I'd like to
be able to find out how a player has it set so I can return it to
it's proper state after it is changed for a time period. I've got
the source for the Zquake engine and have looked through it a bit,
but can't seem to locate what I'm after yet. Again, any help would be great!
Lastly, (and this ties in with the above) is there a way to
simply find out from the game code when a player presses their
arrow keys? Or do I need to again look in the engine for
this? I'm mainly concerned with the down arrow key at this point
as I'd like to modify a player's forward velocity if they press
their down arrow.
Any suggestions you might have would sure be appreciated. <smile>
Now, in case anyone's actually read this far! lol! There is a
new very cool mod on tbrn. It's a Jet Pack. Edit was kind enough
to make his code available for it so I modded it a bit and added
some sound and a slightly different way of flying with it and there
you go! press the space bar twice relatively quickly, and the jet
pack is enabled. You'll then begin to fly up and forward quite
quickly. You can then use the arrow keys to turn. When you want
to come down, press the space bar again and the jet pack will power
down and you'll come back to earth, or if you're at a high altitude
and want to reduce your height just a bit, press the space bar as
before, to power down the jet pack, and then press it again to
power it up again in mid flight so you can adjust your altitude a
bit. <smile> Try it out and lemme' know what ya think! <smile>
Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

go to ftp.idsoftware.com
Once the site comes up, highlight idstuff and open it.
Look in every game directory, and also in the source directory.
I think doom3 quake 1 through4 and wolf have source directories in
their actual directories.
I didn't look in the others, I think doom1 and maybe 2 do not have
source directories but check those.

Hi Shaun, I've just tried the (below) link for ID software
source code, that you sent a couple of weeks ago and it doesn't
seem to work. It asks for a login and won't allow anonymous
logins so I get nothing. I'm wondering how you got access? Thanks so much!...

Hi all.
here is a place for all the idsoftware source.
I never checked all of it out, however here are things.
ftp://idsoftware.com/idstuff
Generic directory in this folder is source however, it seems at
least wolf, quake 1 2 3 and 4 have source directories within them
eg /idstuff/doom3/source.
there are also sdks here.
One thing though is because some libraries are coppywrited
idsoftware sources use free libraries which they claim are not as good.
But they have sources not just for their games or qc programming
but have sources for their tools, even down to their internet
protocals and their setup installers.
There is a lot of stuff in the idstuff folder and should be checked out.
