Unfortunately this sounds very much like your screen reader interceptor driver is messing around with OpenGL, as the problem occurs when you have graphics turned on. This is precisely why we had to do the vidnull thing and we don't really have any means to fix it -- it's an architectural flaw in Windows accessibility I'm afraid.
Sorry to hear you had trouble with Launchpad -- could it be that hte email it sent back went into your Spam/Junk folder by mistake? They are usually very quick at sending the confirmation email back, which makes sign-ups very efficient.
