Hehe, no problem!  The .wad file is used to contain the textures (in
DooM it contained all sorts of other things as well, including the maps
and sounds and so on).  I believe the level would work without the .wad
file, but to a sighted person it would look truly hideous as it would
cover all the surfaces with white and black squares (in ZQuake at
least).

Well it's just the law that a first person shooter has to have (a) a
warehouse level and (b) a slime pit at some point so this would go very
well :-).
